DNS basics for hosting customers

DNS maps names like example.com to services. An A record points a host to an IPv4 address. CNAME aliases one name to another. MX controls where email is delivered. TXT is used for SPF, verification and policies.

You normally edit DNS at your domain registrar or DNS host (Cloudflare, Route53, etc.).
